Exploring our environmental efforts

Using the Green Guide for Health Care, Aurora Health Care evaluates our efforts with standards designed specifically for hospitals, and many of our facilities have launched successful, environmentally responsible initiatives. These include

New buildings are being designed to allow for more natural light, reducing the need for artificial light. They're also being designed to conserve water.

Caregivers are offered discounted rates on beverages if they use Aurora's Reuse and Save Tumblers. If the tumbler is used once a day, five days a week, 3.5 million fewer Styrofoam cups could be used.

Cooking oil is collected at all metro Milwaukee hospitals then turned into biodiesel fuel by community groups.

Aurora has switched to a new bleach for our laundry system that requires water be heated to 140 degrees instead of the previous 175 degrees.
