Welcome from the CEO
Every day at Aurora Health Care we are finding new ways to bring our purpose of helping people live well to life. A large part of that process is Leading with Purpose both in how we act today and how we plan for the future.
It is important for us to Lead with Purpose when we care for our patients and serve our communities. In 2012, more than 1.2 million patients were cared for in Aurora’s hospitals, clinics, urgent cares, pharmacies and other health care settings. In addition to the high quality, affordable care each patient received, making sure patients and family members felt listened to and included in the care process was important. We recognize that patients are people and not a collection of their symptoms or test results. Working with patients rather than doing something to a patient is an important step in the process. Likewise, working with communities to identify key concerns and plan how to address them, helps make everyone healthier in the long run. That’s why last year Aurora provided more than $38 million dollars in community outreach and in-kind services.
2012 also brought continued discussion about health care reform. A Supreme Court case and a presidential election meant the topic was always in the headlines. That constant conversation did not deter us from the important work to be done. Aurora’s accountantable care pilots and work on a narrow network will help set the future standard of health care.
We constantly work to ensure that our patients have access to the latest technology and research. We regularly support the communities we serve with our time and our talents. And we strategically plan for tomorrow recognizing that health care landscape will never look the same. Now, more than ever, we remain steadfast in our promise to help patients live well.
