Salary

Salary pay grades are readjusted annually, 2007-2008 salaries are:

  • PG 1: $46,800

  • PG II: $47,840

  • PG III: $48,880

  • PG IV: $49,920

  • PG V: $53,040

  • PG VI: $54,080

  • PG VII: $57,200

  • PG VIII: $58,240

Maintaining a drug-free work environment

To ensure high quality patient care and service levels within all of our facilities. Aurora HealthCare supports a safe, healthy, and drug-free work environment through pre-residency drug testing. As part of the residency training programs at St. Luke's Medical Center and Aurora Sinai Medical Center, Aurora Health Care will drug test all applicants selected for a medical residency. Positive drug tests will eliminate otherwise selected applicants from further consideration for a residency training program.

Professional liability insurance

Aurora Health Care provides you professional liability insurance while you are completing your residency training program.

During your first year as a trainee, or when you are not yet licensed to practice medicine in Wisconsin, you are included in the Professional Liability Insurance Policy of the Medical Center.

Licensed trainee's professional liability coverage is provided by a policy purchased by the Medical Center. Each policy for a licensed trainee shall be provide separate limits of liability , as required under Section 655,23 of Wisconsin Statutes Coverage in excess of the limits on both of the above policies is provided through the Injured Patients & family Compensation Fund (FUND). You will be required to complete an application form in order to obtain the insurance coverage.

Health insurance

Full time medical residents and their eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the plan. Eligible dependents include spouse, child, same gender domestic partner, and child of same gender domestic partner.

Coverage effective date: the first day of employment.

Dental insurance

Available with no employer subsidy.

Group life insurance

$25,000 per individual, 100% employer-paid.

Paid time off

The trainee will be provided 28 (224 Hours) days each academic year to be available as Paid Time Off for vacation, holiday, & unscheduled absence (including incidental sick days). Paid time off must be scheduled per specific program policies and with the approval of the Program Director. At the end of each academic year the trainee will be allowed to carry over a maximum of 40 hours in the Paid Time Off Bank.

Disability coverage

Trainees are eligible the first of the month following three full calendar months of employment.

The benefit pays 60% of base salary beginning the 8th calendar day of illness or accident for up to 12 weeks. The maximum weekly benefit is $3,000.

Long term disability

Trainees are eligible the first of the month following three full calendar months of employment.

The benefit pays 60% of base salary following a 90-calendar day waiting period. The maximum monthly benefit is $16,000.

Note: Aurora pays the full cost for these disability plans.

Funeral leave

In the event of death of an immediate family member, residents and fellows will receive 3 days of paid bereavement time.

Leave of absence

All leaves are granted in accordance with the corporation's policies and the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1992 and the Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act with the approval of the program director.

Status of trainees education level and graduation date may be altered based on the time away from the program.

Housing

Based on availability, apartments, duplexes and single-family homes are within walking distance, or not more than a 2 mile radius of Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center. Housing is St. Luke's-owned and operated.

Auroraflex

Pretax deposits for medical insurance, dental insurance and/or medical/dependent care flexible spending account.

Parking

Parking is provided at no charge. Specific locations will be assigned.

Meals

Provided to on-call residents and fellows and also available at all conferences and lectures.

Day care center

Aurora Health Care provides its employees with an on-site child-care facility. The Day care center offers a comprehensive program for children 2-weeks-old through 12 years.

Tax sheltered annuities

All residents and fellows eligible to join a tax-sheltered annuity.
