Fellowships

The size and quality of the teaching faculty, along with a broad research base, allows Aurora Health Care to be able to sponsor outstanding postgraduate fellowship training in cardiovascular disease, gastroenterology and geriatrics.

Led by Dr. Masood Akhtar, the Department of Cardiology at Aurora Health Care has achieved national recognition for its clinical services and research. In addition to the basic three-year Cardiology fellowship, further specialized training is available in Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology.

Gastroenterology postgraduate training at Aurora Health Care has become one of the most popular and competitive fellowships. With a new state-of-the-art endoscopic suite, this fellowship, under the guidance of Program Director Dr. Aboud Affi, is designed for both the clinically-oriented and the academically-oriented physician of Gastroenterology.

The geriatric services at Aurora Health Care are second to none, with the cornerstone being the Geriatrics Institute, a multidisciplinary approach to the care of the elderly. The Geriatrics fellowship, directed by Drs. Michael Malone and Ariba Kahn, stresses both the clinical and research skills necessary for this rapidly expanding field of internal medicine.
