Matt CarletonCurrent resident – Matt Carleton, Pharm.D.

Previous education: Pharm.D. from Midwestern University- College of Pharmacy Glendale

Short bio: I am originally from the Milwaukee area and am glad to be back home after a short hiatus in Phoenix. I enjoy spending lots of time outside, watching movies and sports at home, and doing things with my friends and family.

What factors did you consider most important when choosing a residency? The most important factors for me in choosing a residency program were the variety of rotations available, the quality of preceptors, the size of the class, and the history of the residency program.

Why Aurora? I felt very comfortable with all of the people here and this residency program is well established. There is a wide range of rotations available and you are able to customize your experience in order to get the most out of the residency.

Current rotations:

  • Adult Medicine
  • Critical care
  • Administration
  • NICU
  • Joint Commission Preparation
  • Drug Policy
  • Operating Room
  • Infectious Disease
  • Cardiology
  • Epilepsy/Neurology

Year-long project: “Implementation of trigger tools to increase and improve medication event reporting”

Future plans: I hope to find a staffing position in a critical care setting. I am also considering a PGY-2 residency in critical care.
