Current resident – Stacy Gianakakos, Pharm.D.
Previous education: Bachelor of Science at University of Illinois at Chicago and Pharm.D. from Midwestern University-Chicago.
Short bio: I grew up in Chicago (Go Bears!). I love Chicago, but Milwaukee is also on the top of my list of fun cities! In my spare time, I love spending time with my huge, loud Greek family and my amazing friends!
What factors did you consider most important when choosing a residency? When choosing residency programs, there were many factors that I considered. To begin with, I looked for programs with rotations in all of my areas of interest. In addition, I wanted to be a part of an established program with a large residency class. Lastly, I looked for programs in which I thought my personality would fit in with the others.
Why Aurora? I chose Aurora not only because of the variety of rotations available, but also because of the people. Everyone is very supportive and excited to teach. In addition, I knew that I would get a unique experience because of the ability to rotate through a large hospital system.
Current rotations:
- Geriatrics/Parkinson's Disease
- Adult Medicine
- Cardiothoracis Transplant
- Critical Care
- Drug Policy
- Medical ICU
- Administration
- Gen Med
- Cardiology
- Epilepsy/Neurology
Year-long project: Optimization of unit base cabinet inventory and controlled substances accountability through utilization of reporting tools
Future plans: I am considering a PGY-2 in either critical care or transplant.
