Current resident – Tyler J. Guetschow, Pharm.D.

Previous education: University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy

Short bio: I am originally from Sheboygan, WI. I completed both my pre-pharmacy and pharmacy education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During my time at Wisconsin I worked directly with the Wisconsin Football Program as a student manager and then head student manager. I enjoy many activities in my free time and find it more appropriate to mention those items which I do not partake in. Excluded are watching reality TV, nail painting, and flipping through Cosmo magazine (I am the only male PGY1 this year if you hadn't noticed).

What factors did you consider most important when choosing a residency? Residencies that appealed to me where those that offered a wide variety of rotations. I want to get as broad of an experience as I possibly can this year. Additionally, I wanted to find a program with a large residency class. Learning together and having fun with co-residents is important to me.

Why Aurora? Aurora offers a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical rotations to experience. I find Aurora particularly exciting because rotations are offered at multiple different hospitals. When visiting, it was apparent that the residency program was an important part of the pharmacy department.

Year-long project: Creating and Optimizing System-Wide Pharmacy to Prescriber Communications.

Future plans: My plan is to determine my future plan in the next few months. I am contemplating the possibility of a PGY-2 residency in a number of areas.
