Emma HewsCurrent resident - Emma Hews, Pharm.D.

Previous education: BS in Biology and Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA.; Pharm.D. from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA

Short bio: I grew up in Connecticut and spent most of my life in New England before going to pharmacy school. Having heard great things about Milwaukee, I decided to move out here! I enjoy skiing, biking, traveling and getting some sun by the pool.

What factors did you consider most important when choosing a residency? When I was looking into PGY-1 programs, the most important factors for me where the variety of rotations offered and the size of the residency class. I decided to stay on for the PGY-2 administration residency because of the many opportunities at Aurora.

Why Aurora? When I interviewed at Aurora I knew immediately that this a place that I would fit in. The people were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and I felt that I would learn a great deal from them. It was also important to me to be at a large healthcare system where I would have the ability to rotate through other hospitals.

Current rotations:

  • Health-System Pharmacy Administration
  • Inpatient Pharmacy Operations
  • Outpatient Pharmacy Operations
  • Clinical Services
  • Pharmacy Informatics
  • Procurement/Supply Chain
  • Pharmacy Recruiting

Future plans: Inpatient pharmacy supervisor/manager
