Current resident – Audra Kilburg, Pharm.D

Previous education: After completing two years of pre-pharmacy undergrad at Simpson College, I was accepted to the University of Iowa's College of Pharmacy Program.

Short bio: I was born and raised in Andrew, IA (I understand if you don't know where that is). I have left the small town life for Milwaukee! I enjoy being outdoors, shopping and spending as much time as possible with friends and family.

Factors considered most important when choosing residency: I was looking for a residency that would allow me to become a more versatile and well-rounded pharmacist. I am very interested in providing clinical services including medication therapy management in order to get more involved in patient care. Also, looking for preceptors and staff that are as passionate about providing high quality service to patients was another key factor.

Why Aurora? It is a really great mix of clinical opportunities such as: medication therapy management, interactive counseling, immunizations, and health promotion and prevention services along with the customary community pharmacist responsibilities. This allows me to build relationships with the patients and be more involved in their care. The outpatient pharmacy staff is also a wonderful group of caring individuals who are fun to work with.

Current rotations: My rotations are longitudinal and include immunizations, medication safety, practice management, staffing, and clinical services. I also spend one day a week at Aurora Sinai's Family Practice clinic where I will be a resource to doctors and residents about medication therapy. Electives include the anticoagulation clinic or teaching at Concordia University.

Year-long project: Implementing hospital discharge counseling services by outpatient pharmacists.

Future plans: If a position becomes available I would love to stay with Aurora and continue to be involved in and develop clinical pharmacy services.
