Current resident
Courtney Morris, Pharm.D.
Previous education: Pharm.D. from Drake University in
Des Moines, IA
Short bio: I am from a small town in central Iowa. I
enjoy spending time with my big family and with friends, cooking with my
fiancé, getting lost in the depths of You Tube, running and biking.
What factors did you consider most important when choosing a
residency? It was important to me to find a program that seemed
connected with both its past and current residents. I evaluated the
organization’s ideology of the residency program and how it conducted the
program within the context of providing health care while educating young
practitioners. I also really wanted to have the opportunities to explore
as many areas of interest as I could.
Why Aurora? For me, Aurora was the one place where
everything I wanted came together. It offered the rotations and learning
opportunities I was looking for, it emphasized the resident’s learning as
well as pharmacist responsibilities and above all I feel that the people
involved in the program really care about me and why I am here. I know
that I will be able to achieve my goals because everyone involved in the
program wants me to achieve my goals as well.
Current rotations:
- Drug Policy
- Family Practice
- Administration
- Infectious Disease
- General Medicine
- Oncology
- Adult Medicine
- Geriatrics/Parkinson’s Disease
- Cardiology
- OR
Year-long project: “Anticoagulation Medication Safety
Monitoring: Implementation of National Patient Safety Goal 03.05.01”
Future plans: I am unsure at this time. I really like
the clinical ambulatory care setting but I also enjoy clinical hospital
work and I hope to further define my interests, likes and dislikes as the
year progresses.
