Andrew KolinskiCurrent resident – Andrew Kolinski, Pharm.D.

Previous education: Pharm.D. from the Chicago College of Pharmacy at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois

Short bio: I was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. I became interested in a career in pharmacy during the latter half of high school. After I graduated, I started working at an independent community pharmacy and enjoyed it so much that I stayed there until I graduated pharmacy school. Enjoying the complex and often diverse patient population encountered in a hospital setting, I decided to pursue a residency here at Aurora Health Care.

On my time off, I enjoy participating in any type of athletic activity. I also value time spent with family and friends.

What factors did you consider most important when choosing a residency? I felt Aurora Health Care would provide me with an excellent all around experiential education, which included both inpatient and ambulatory opportunities. I also found it important to be part of a larger residency class for both social and academic reasons.

Why Aurora? I like that I am part of a larger residency class here at Aurora Health Care. Also, being a health care system, Aurora is able to offer rotations at more than one site, allowing me to experience both academic and nonacademic medicine. In addition, Aurora offers a program with both inpatient pharmacy experience and ambulatory care experience.

Current rotations:

  • Cardiology
  • MICU
  • Infectious Disease
  • Family Practice
  • Adult Medicine
  • Administration
  • Drug Policy
  • Critical Care
  • Psychiatric/Hospice
  • General Medicine
  • NICU

Year-long project: "Assessment and implementation of Verifynow test results as a means for the reduction of the use of blood and non-blood products in the OR setting”

Future plans: While I have many interests, I am currently thinking that I would like to work in the ICU setting after residency
