PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency - Green Bay

Goal

The PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency is structured to provide a broad base of skills, knowledge, and experience to the entry-level practitioner. Candidates interested in careers as Clinical Pharmacists in the Acute Care/Ambulatory Care setting are encouraged to apply.

Rotation Sites - Residents may complete rotations at several different rotation sites.

Aurora BayCare Medical Center

  • Full-service hospital serving the Green Bay area and communities throughout northeastern Wisconsin. Specialty services include critical care, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, neurology, women’s health and neonatal intensive care. 

Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center

  • Wisconsin's largest private hospital, located on the south side of Milwaukee, internationally known for its expertise in heart care. Aurora St. Luke's also offers exceptional specialty care in areas such as cancer treatment, digestive diseases and neurology. It is the home of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic.

Aurora Sinai Medical Center

  • A teaching hospital located in downtown Milwaukee. Aurora Sinai Medical Center, offers unique pharmaceutical care experiences including neonatal/perinatal care, geriatrics/Parkinson disease, internal medicine, as well as medical intensive care.

Aurora West Allis Medical Center

  • A community hospital providing a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. Among its specialty services are cardiology, digestive diseases, cancer treatment, orthopedics, women's health and obstetrics.

Aurora Psychiatric Hospital

  • Child, adolescent, adult and older adult services are provided on an outpatient, partial hospital, residential and inpatient basis, in Wauwatosa.

Specific rotation areas

Residents will complete core rotations in Adult Medicine and Administration in Green Bay and Drug Policy and Ambulatory Care in Milwaukee.  Elective rotations in both Green Bay and Milwaukee will be customized based on the interest of each individual resident.

  • Orientation: Computer systems, drug distribution, personnel, policies, workflow, department structure
    .
  • Drug Use Policy: MUE, P&T Committee, Drug Information, Development of Clinical Policies and Procedures, Drug Policy and Medication Safety
    .
  • Practice Management: Budgeting, personnel management, financial management, managed care, development and implementation of new services
    .
  • Ambulatory Care: Family Practice Clinic, Epilepsy Clinic, Anticoagulation Clinic, Geriatrics Clinic, Primary Care Clinic, Psychiatry Services
    .
  • Critical Care: Cardiovascular Surgery, Cardiology and Cardiac ICU, Solid Organ and Cardiac Transplant, Surgical ICU, Medical Respiratory ICU, Neuro/neurosurgical ICU, Neonatal ICU, Operating Room Services and Infectious Disease
    .
  • Oncology: Bone Marrow Transplant, Immunotherapy, Outpatient Oncology Clinic, Inpatient Oncology Services
    .
  • Medicine: General/Internal Medicine, Medicine Teaching Service, Geriatrics, Parkinson’s Disease, Hospice Services and Inpatient Psychiatry Services
    .
  • Women's Health: Aurora Women's Pavilion at Aurora West Allis Medical Center
    .
  • Professional Development: Year-long residency project, rotation projects, in-services, staffing, visits to other institutions, professional organizations, teaching and precepting, ACPE continuing education presentation

Candidate qualifications

Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy and eligible for pharmacist licensure in Wisconsin.

Each resident is eligible for full-time employee benefits. This includes medical/dental insurance, 23 days paid time off, and travel support.

Stipend

We update competitive salaries annually. The current stipend is $45,760
