Radiology residency program

Program overview

A 5-year residency in Diagnostic Radiology is offered by Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center. It consists of 1 year of clinical medicine (Transitional Year) and 4 years in Diagnostic Radiology. Four candidates are accepted into the program each year. The program is approved by the American Board of Radiology, the American College of Radiology, the American Medical Association, and has full ACGME accreditation.

Aurora St. Luke's Department of Radiology annually performs 220,000 diagnostic procedures utilizing 2 angio rooms with biplane and neuro capabilities; and over 12,000 nuclear medicine procedures are performed annually. The department has 5 CT scanners, including one state-of- the-art 64 detector and two 16 detector CT scanners.

The department has 11 Ultrasound units and 5 MRI units including a 3T magnet which may be used for research projects in addition to routine clinical imaging.

An active Mammography center performs 250 stereotactic biopsies as well as 375 needle core biopsies each year.

The diagnostic section consists of 38 board-certified radiologists and 2 board-certified radiation physicists. The department also includes 3 physician assistants, a research coordinator and a research technologist.
