Didactics

Because most of our didactics are attended by all of Aurora St. Luke's house staff, our conferences are clinically oriented and broad-based. Our staff-wide conference schedule (weekly unless otherwise specified) includes:

  • Endocrinology Case Conference
  • Medical Knowledge/Clinical
  • Skills Conference
  • Medical Grand Rounds
  • Residents' Case Conference
  • Tumor Board (biweekly)
  • Clinical Radiology Conference (monthly)
  • Pulmonary Case Conference (monthly)
  • AMTS Clinical Pathology Conference (monthly)

In addition, a number of conferences and training experiences are designed specifically for the TY resident, including:

  • Two month Acute Care Lecture Series (July-August): Intern oriented discussions regarding practical management of common acute medical problems
  • Transitional Year Resident Journal Club (weekly)
  • TY Residents Case Conference
  • A.C.L.S. Advanced Life Support
  • Monthly Core Issues Seminar Series. These half-day sessions focus on issues related to medicine and health care not normally taught at the bedside. These conferences are followed by a Transitional Year Resident business meeting and social event. Topics have included:
  • Medicine and the Law
  • Medicare, Medicaid and Entitlement Programs
  • "Here's to your Health,” Living the Wellness Model
  • Managed Care and Health Maintenance
  • Communication Skills
  • Domestic Violence
  • Computers in Medicine
  • Medical Ethics

Annual TY residents' also experience a 2-day retreat. Relevant career and professional issues are discussed in a relaxed, enjoyable environment. Spouses and family members are welcome.
