Clinical nurse specialist honored for helping survivors of domestic violence

MILWAUKEE, WI, Alice Kramer, RN, MS, clinical nurse specialist for the Sexual Assault Treatment Center (SATC) at Aurora Sinai Medical Center and Domestic Violence Services at Aurora facilities in the greater Milwaukee area, has received a Champions in Women’s Health Award from Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation for her work in assisting survivors of domestic violence. The Sexual Assault Treatment Center at Aurora Sinai is the second-largest facility of its kind in the nation.

Kramer, a resident of Milwaukee, was among nine award recipients announced April 29 in Madison at the foundation’s spring gala at the Capitol.

The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation created the Champions in Women’s Health Awards five years ago to honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in women’s health. Champions are nominated by their peers. Other women were honored for their work in breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, smoking cessation, mental illness and osteoporosis.

The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation strives to educate women on important health topics as well as listen to women and learn about current problems or concerns.

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
