More than 1,000 express interest in jobs at proposed Aurora Medical CenterTuesday, October 26, 2004
MILWAUKEE, Wis., The number of people who have expressed interest in employment at the new Aurora Medical Center proposed for the Town of Summit has surpassed 1,000, Aurora Health Care announced today.
“We continue to be pleased with the number of inquiries about employment at the new medical center,” said Amy Rislov, director of human resources for Aurora’s Kettle Moraine Region. “As of today, 1,248 people have told us they would like to explore career opportunities at the new Aurora Medical Center.”
The approval process for the medical center is continuing in the Town of Summit. The town’s Plan Commission voted Sept. 22 to recommend the project to the Town Board. The Town Board has scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Summit Elementary School in Oconomowoc.
About 400 people will be hired to staff the hospital when it opens. A wide range of clinical and non-clinical positions will be filled. In addition, more than 300 current Wilkinson Medical Clinic employees are expected to move to the new clinic space on the medical center campus.
Among the 1,248 people who have expressed interest in employment at the new hospital, 12% are current Aurora employees who would transfer to new positions at the hospital. “We have about 3,200 employees who live or work in Waukesha County, and we would expect that many of them will want to explore opportunities at the new medical center,” Rislov said.
The new Aurora Medical Center is planned for a site at the southeast corner of Interstate 94 and Highway 67. The 88-bed hospital will be the most technologically advanced community hospital in Wisconsin, incorporating the latest equipment for diagnosis and treatment, all-digital diagnostics, a comprehensive electronic medical record system, and an array of other technology that will enhance care and improve efficiency.
Aurora Medical Center will provide a new option for high-quality care close to home. Today, 57% of the residents of western Waukesha County leave the area when they need inpatient care.
