Aurora nurse honored with prestigious award

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh College of Nursing honored Jane Klemp, RN at the VLCC in Oshkosh, with a Nightingale Award. Jane was one of six nurses from Oshkosh, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Neenah and Ripon hospitals and health care groups to receive a Nightingale Award during the 13th annual ceremony held Tuesday, May 3.

Co-workers, patients and staff members nominated 17 nurses for the award and each nominated nurse received recognition in a video presentation about their work, their contributions to the community and the ways they make difficult visits to hospitals and medical centers easier for patients and family members.

Also nominated at Aurora in Oshkosh were Shari Lux, RN, Diabetic Educator and Jennifer Lemery, RN, Coagulation Nurse.

Each of the six winners of the Nightingale Award received a $1,000 cash prize and a glass award honoring Florence Nightingale — the 19th century nursing pioneer and founder of the first nursing school.
