Newest Aurora QuickCare clinic opens in Oshkosh Wal-Mart Supercenter

Friday, December 15, 2006

Aurora Health Care will open its newest Aurora QuickCare clinic Dec. 15 in the Wal-Mart Supercenter store in Oshkosh at 351 S. Washburn St., Ste 3.

It will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Oshkosh Wal-Mart site is the 17th Aurora QuickCare location in eastern Wisconsin.

Aurora QuickCare clinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners who provide fast, convenient and affordable diagnostic services and treatment for common family illnesses such as sore throat, ear infection, sinus infection, pink eye, mononucleosis, bladder infection, seasonal allergies and bronchitis. In addition, Aurora QuickCare provides cholesterol screenings, TB testing and vaccinations, such as flu, meningitis and tetanus.

A typical visit to an Aurora Quick Care site takes just 15 minutes. No appointments are necessary. A flat fee of $39 is charged.

"Wal-Mart is in an area that allows quick and convenient access to health care that will help address some basic and preventive needs of people who live in the Mukwonago area," said Janet Teske, an advanced practice nurse and Aurora QuickCare manager. "We're pleased to offer another location for efficient and affordable care.

"Aurora QuickCare is an attractive option for many people," she said. "Parents are particularly happy to have an option that enables them to get quick answers and treatment for common childhood illnesses. For working parents it's especially beneficial because it's affordable and it reduces their time away from their jobs."

QuickCare patients who require a prescription for medication receive one before they leave, Teske said. "Patients who need follow-up care receive a copy of their records to share with their primary care physician," Teske said. "And for people who do not have a physician, the QuickCare clinics can provide information about nearby physicians who are accepting new patients."
More information about Aurora QuickCare, including a list of locations, is available at www.Aurora.org/QuickCare or call 877-QUICK02 or 877-784-2502.

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
