Orthopedics, sports medicine highlight new facility
Aurora BayCare Medical Center officials announced plans to add a medical office building to its campus in the Interstate 43 Business Park that will feature an athletic enhancement and lifestyle center.
"The continued growth of our orthopedics and sports medicine services has created a need for more space," said Linda Smith, administrator of Aurora BayCare Medical Center and executive vice president of Aurora Health Care's North Region.
Aurora BayCare's sports medicine department will move to the new building, including its Frappier Acceleration Sports Training program and sports medicine rehabilitation center. The adjacent BayCare Clinic Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine department also will move. The site also will include conference rooms and other clinic space.
"This project is a welcome addition to the I-43 Business Park," said Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt. "The entire Aurora BayCare campus has provided our area with the type of developments that attract other businesses and I expect that trend to continue."
The new building will encompass roughly 80,000 square feet over 2 floors.
The athletic performance enhancement center is designed to provide athletes of all sports, ages and abilities with the latest training tools including:
"This center will be northeastern Wisconsin's premier sports medicine facility," said Todd Bruss, manager of Aurora BayCare's sports medicine department. "Our physicians and staff will be able to provide training and rehabilitation for all athletes regardless of their age or ability."
Construction is set to begin later this summer with completion in spring 2008. The project marks the 6th major construction project on the campus since Aurora BayCare opened in September 2001.
Aurora BayCare Medical Center is a 167-bed, full-service tertiary care hospital offering trauma, neonatal, cardiac, cancer, neuro and critical medical care services. Located at 2845 Greenbrier Rd. on Green Bay's east side, the medical center opened in September 2001 as a joint effort of Aurora Health Care and BayCare Clinic.
