Aurora breaks ground on Ripon health centerTuesday, September 11, 2007
Aurora Health Care leaders and physicians along with local officials were on hand to officially break ground on the new Aurora Health Center in Ripon.
The 1-story, 12,000-square-foot clinic will house primary health care providers who will offer the full spectrum of medical treatment for patients from newborns to the elderly, as well as several visiting specialists.
"The west end is growing and growth can be good. I want to welcome Aurora to Ripon," said Mayor Kramer. "A good quality of life is part of living in Ripon. We're proud of Ripon and happy to have Aurora."
More than 5,000 people living in the Ripon area use Aurora Health Care for one type of service or another. This new building gives those patients more convenient access to their health care.
"This new health center speaks volumes about Aurora's commitment to the long-term health of families in the Ripon area," said David Zerbe, administrator for the new health center. "The first level of care, or primary care, needs to be close to home, and the addition of specialty services will provide extra convenience and coordination of care for the residents of Ripon."
The center, which features on-site laboratory and X-ray services, will be located on the western edge of Ripon off Highway 23, also known as W. Fond du Lac St. The area is experiencing tremendous growth in business, and the local business leaders are happy to have Aurora as a partner in Ripon.
"I congratulate Aurora on this day," said Paula Price, executive director of the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce. "It takes a lot of planning and effort to launch a project of this size. People and businesses in Ripon know about their neighbors, and care about them.... so it is in that spirit that we welcome you to Ripon and invite you join us in our support of this great community and its businesses."
"Many of our physicians and employees live in Ripon and are part of the community," said Zerbe. "Those Aurora staff particularly look forward to improving the health of those who live and work in the Ripon area, which they and their families consider to be ‘home'."
The new clinic in Ripon is expected to open by early 2008.
Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
