Aurora Caregiver Presents at National ConferenceThursday, July 03, 2008
Rachelle Valleskey, from Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers, was chosen to present at the Premier National Breakthroughs Conference in Nashville, Tenn., held in June. The annual conference brought in more than 3,000 health care professionals from around the country. Valleskey presented "Reducing Patient Identification Errors: Successful Strategies and Tools."
Valleskey's presentation showcased Aurora Health Care's efforts to include patients as partners in performance improvement processes. By utilizing an actual patient's story, recounted on video, Valleskey was able to impress upon the audience not only the need for proper patient identification, but the powerful effect of working with patients to problem solve for better solutions.
Aurora Health Care has adopted a policy of placing colored wristbands related to a defined purpose. The Wisconsin Hospital Association is recommending adoption of the process at a state level. The goal is to establish a national standard.
Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers services at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
