Aurora Sinai Medical Center Lab Honored for Commitment to QualityThursday, May 08, 2003MILWAUKEE, WI The echocardiography laboratory at Aurora Sinai Medical Center that helps doctors diagnose heart disease is being honored for the high quality of tests done there.
This month, the Echocardiography Lab at the Milwaukee Heart Institute received an additional 3-year-accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). The Aurora Sinai Medical Center lab was the first hospital-based lab in Milwaukee to receive the award three years ago.
Echocardiographic testing is useful in the detection and management of many types of heart disease. The noninvasive test has become one of the standard diagnostic tools in cardiology. An estimated 10 million echocardiograms are performed annually in the United States. 3600 of those are performed at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center lab.
ICAEL evaluates labs based on the interpretive and technical abilities of the staff as well as other critical elements of an echocardiography laboratory. This accreditation signifies the Aurora Sinai lab has a continued commitment to high quality patient care as well as quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease.
Aurora Sinai Medical Center is a part of Aurora Health Care, a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora has care sites in 75 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
