OSHKOSH, Wis., Residents of Oshkosh and surrounding communities will be able to tour the new Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh during a huge open house celebration on Saturday, October 25, Aurora Health Care announced today. The hospital will open two days later, weeks ahead of schedule.
“We are planning an incredible open house – a big party for the entire family,” said Fran Finley, administrator of the new hospital. “Our staff can’t wait to show this beautiful new facility to our community.” The open house will run from noon to 5 p.m. October 25 at the hospital, which is in the final stages of construction along Highway 21 just west of Highway 41. The event will feature tours of the hospital, plenty of free food and gifts for adults and children, live music and other activities.
“Our open house guests will have a chance to go behind the scenes at a state-of-the-art hospital,” Finley said. “The tours will show everything from obstetrics and pediatrics to diagnostics and the emergency department.”
After touring the hospital, guests will be treated to a free barbecue-style picnic meal that will include chicken sandwiches, bratwurst, hotdogs, cake and caramel apples. Children will be invited to decorate pumpkins and participate in a variety of fun activities. Children also will receive a great trick-or-treat bag, complete with safety tips. The Milwaukee Brewers’ racing sausages will be part of the day’s fun.
Aurora Medical Center will admit its first patients on October 27, weeks ahead of the original schedule. “Our construction crews have done an outstanding job of getting the building ready, and our hiring is proceeding well, so we’re able to open much earlier than we had planned,” said Robert Devermann, M.D., president of Aurora Medical Group in Oshkosh. More than 400 people are being hired to staff the new hospital.
Employment information is available here. All open positions are listed online, and all applications may be completed on the web site.
“We have been very pleased so far both with the level of interest in employment at the new hospital and with the caliber of our applicants,” Finley said. “We’re still accepting applications.”
Aurora Medical Center will be a full-service hospital serving the people of Oshkosh and surrounding communities. The hospital will incorporate the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment, and will feature a modern, efficient design that emphasizes comfort and convenience for patients and their families.
