Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Burlington, Wis. — Mark your calendar for Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington’s 7th annual Crystal Ball, coming up Saturday, February 6. This elegant event, to be held at the Veterans Terrace at Echo Park, Burlington, combines an evening of fun, fine food and dancing to the music of the George Busateri Band.

Honorary chairperson of this year’s ball will be Lief Erickson, Sr. M.D. Dr. Erickson, Sr, began his service to the Burlington community sixty years ago. He still sees over 200 patients a month and is medical director at three area facilities including the Aurora Visiting Nurse South Region Hospice. The evening will include a special thank you to Dr. Erickson for his many years of service.

Line and silent auctions will be held. Proceeds from the Crystal Ball event will benefit the hospital’s emergency department, which treats over 13,000 patients annually. Tickets are $80 per guest. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Black tie optional. For tickets or more information, please call 262-767-6572 or log onto www.Aurora.org/CrystalBall.

Debi Miller, Vice President of Philanthropy, Aurora Health Care, said the Crystal Ball once again promises to be a memorable event. Since its inception, more than $254,000 has been raised to support hospital programs and services.

“The community support for the Crystal Ball is truly inspiring,’’ said Miller. “Much of the event’s success is due to the dedication and commitment of our community volunteers. We would like to thank them for their hard work and support. Their efforts in improving the health and well being of the community are making a significant difference.’’

Community volunteers involved with this year’s event include Ruth DeLay, Patricia Impens, Mary Lynch, Lyn Maker, Thomas Niccolai, M.D., Jeanne Otter, Tony Rosso, Julee Scherrer, Pat Spiegelhoff, Jackie VanHeirseele, Jennifer Stephens, Michelle Weber, and Jenny Winkler.

Tammy Albelo, manager, emergency services, Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, said support from the event plays an important role in helping the overall health of the community.

“The emergency department is the heart of any hospital,’’ she said. “With support from the Crystal Ball, we will continue to be able to provide Burlington area residents and families with exceptional care and compassion during emergency situations.’’
