Annual McGMO golf event to benefit Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Lakeland Medical CenterFriday, July 23, 2010Delavan, Wis. — The annual McGMO Golfing for Cancer Care event aims to improve health and well-being of local cancer patients. The 13th annual event will be held Friday, July 30, at Delbrook Golf Course, 700 S. 2nd St., Delavan. Check in time is 11 a.m. Last year, the event raised more than $44,000. Since its inception, the McGMO has raised more than $300,000 to enhance patient services, acquire equipment and invest in new technology. Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to develop and fund a cancer care navigator position that will serve cancer patients at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. The McGMO was established in 1998 in honor of Dean McGregor, Ivan Grover, Calvin Monroe, who lost their battles with cancer, and Kim O’Keefe, a cancer survivor. “For those involved in the McGMO, this is a personal mission,’’ says Michelle Weber, with Aurora Health Care. “Together, we remain committed to providing vital cancer services close to home. People like Mike and Lori Grover and Kim O’Keefe understand the significance of having quality cancer services easily accessible in the community.’’ Hole sponsorship opportunities are also available to make a difference in someone’s life with cancer: · Par sponsor is $100 and will receive an 8x10 sign All of the hole sponsors and gift donors for the auction will have their names listed prominently at the clubhouse.
