Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County receives Environmental Award for recycling

Manitowoc, Wis. – Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County recently received the Environmental Award from Cintas Document Management for paper recycling. The award is given annually to select Cintas customers based on the volume of shredded paper recycled and its positive impact on the environment. Cintas is a supplier of document-shredding services and business products.

"Recycling not only has a positive impact on the environment, it helps us to better manage our resources and costs. Ultimately, that helps us better serve our patients," said Cindy Jones, Food, Nutrition & Environmental Services Manager, Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County.

Recycling efforts at Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County helped result in the following estimated savings in consumable resources in 2009:

  • 1,258 trees saved
  • 28,120 gallons of oil saved
  • 518,000 gallons of water saved
  • 222 cubic yards of landfill
