Tuesday, September 07, 2010

Grafton, Wis. - Aurora Medical Center in Grafton will welcome its first patients on Monday, Nov. 1. However, the community can preview the new regional medical center at a community open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Aurora Health Care is proud to introduce this 107-bed, state-of-the-art regional medical center that will set a new standard for health care throughout Ozaukee County and nearby communities. Residents will experience the hospital through tours, informative exhibits and health screenings, plus enjoy family-friendly activities.

Tours will provide a firsthand look at the uniquely designed medical campus, including patient areas such as the fully-equipped emergency department including trauma rooms, one-of-a-kind intensive care unit, patient centered labor and delivery rooms, plus highly specialized orthopaedic and rehabilitation areas.

Aurora Medical Center in Grafton will be Wisconsin’s first “green” hospital. It is being built to Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification standards, using 35 percent less energy than the average U.S. hospital with an electricity savings that alone could power a small community of more than 200 Wisconsin homes.

Members of the media are invited to attend a dedication ceremony prior to the doors being open to the public. Contact Peter Balistrieri at 262-510-8082 or Mary Reinke at 414-647-6436 for more information or to schedule interviews.
