Sheboygan, Wis. – Aurora Health Care physicians at the Aurora Sheboygan Clinic received recognition from the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program for providing quality care to diabetic patients.

The following physicians received recognition:

Petra Nedoba, M.D.
Stephen Westcott, M.D.

This recognition program is conducted by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association.

To receive recognition, which is valid through 2013, these physicians submitted data that demonstrates their performance meets the program's key diabetes care measures, including careful control of patients’ blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure, while giving regular diabetic eye and feet exams. When people with diabetes receive quality care as outlined by these measures, they are less likely to suffer complications such as heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.

There are more than 200 Aurora physicians who have received this recognition. Aurora is a national leader in the number of physicians who have achieved this level of diabetic care recognition.

NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. It accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations.
