Monthly meeting January 18 at Aurora Health Center in Marinette
Marinette, Wis. – Individuals with diabetes and their family members are invited to attend the Diabetes Support Group event “Best Diabetic Fitness Plan” on Tuesday, Jan. 18th at Aurora Health Center in Marinette. The group meets on a monthly basis to provide support and education to those living with diabetes.
Rod Tafelski, a cardiac rehab coordinator and registered exercise physiologist at Aurora Health Center in Marinette, will discuss the importance of creating a fitness plan that includes both aerobic exercise and weight training to get the best results for lowering blood sugar and controlling diabetes. He will also answer questions and discuss how to put an exercise plan into action for diabetes control and prevention.
The event will take place Tuesday, January 18 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Aurora Health Center in Marinette, 4061 Old Peshtigo Road.
“A combination of aerobic exercise and weight training lowers blood sugar and helps with weight loss better than any one of those two exercises done individually,” Tafelski said. “This exercise combination is especially important for individuals with diabetes, and can make individuals feel better about themselves and improve their overall well-being.”
Being diagnosed with diabetes can be life altering. Learning from others and sharing individual experiences can help diabetics cope with the disease in daily life. Registration is not required to attend Diabetes Support Group events. For more information please call 715-735-7421.
