Celebration has heart-healthy focus

Green Bay, Wis. – Individuals are invited to attend Beat Heart Disease, a special celebration focusing on heart health, Friday, Feb. 4th from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

This event is in conjunction with the American Heart Association and National Wear Red Day.

As part of the event, Aurora BayCare Medical Center will be recognized for being named among the 50 top hospitals for cardiovascular care by Thomson Reuters. Aurora BayCare is the only hospital in Wisconsin to earn this recognition, which means it is the only hospital in the state recognized to have fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and better survival rates, all for a lower-than-average cost.

In conjunction with National Wear Red Day, visitors are encouraged to wear red, and will have access to important blood pressure screenings, healthy snacks, American Heart Association heart healthy tools, as well as free T-shirts for the first 250 attendees.

As a proud local sponsor of Go Red For Women, Aurora BayCare Medical Center will present a donation of $10,000 to the American Heart Association at noon. During the presentation the caregivers at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, specifically the internal cardiac team, will be honored for their dedication to providing the community with high quality, comprehensive health care. The celebration will also honor the internal caregivers and patients for having a high caliber hospital offering the best care possible right in the Green Bay community.

The event will take place Friday, Feb. 4th from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main atrium at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, 2845 Greenbrier Road in Green Bay.

Also in celebration of American Heart Month, Aurora BayCare Medical Center will also be hosting the 2nd annual LiveFit Heart-a-thon on Saturday, February 12th at Aurora BayCare Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center. Caregivers, family and friends age 14 and older are invited to wear red and join in a morning of fitness fun in support of American Heart Month.

The program will feature workouts including Cardio Zumba, Cardio Core, Cardio Yoga and Cardio Bootcamp, as well as door prizes, refreshments and a free water bottle for all attendees.

The event will cost $10, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the American Heart Association. Registration is required; for more information, please call 920-288-5400.
