Children's Hospital begins preferred provider arrangement with Aurora VNA for home health servicesThursday, February 02, 2012Milwaukee – Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Aurora Visiting Nurse Association have developed a preferred provider arrangement for pediatric home health services, effective Feb. 1, 2012. Aurora VNA currently provides a majority of home care services and equipment needs for children discharged from Children’s Hospital. “We believe Aurora VNA will help expand our ability to provide coordination of services to our families as they leave the hospital or specialty clinic,” said Cindy Christensen, RN, JD, president of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. “If we can provide more families with seamless care coordination while concentrating on improving quality of care and outcomes for our families, they truly will benefit.” “Children’s has created an impressive care coordination system for chronically ill and injured children who leave the hospital and need services at home,” said Candace Hennessy, RN, PhD, Aurora vice president and president of Aurora VNA. “We’re pleased to expand the relationship to find more ways to effectively and cost-efficiently coordinate care, leading to improvements in the lives of children and their families.” Home health services include home health nursing, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation equipment, home infusion services, wound care/ ostomy and enteral support. Children’s will continue to use several home health agencies to meet the needs of families with unique insurance plans or who live areas not served by Aurora.
