The Aurora 5K Walk/Run for Cancer is a great way to show support for cancer patients in Oshkosh and surrounding communities while enjoying a fun-filled event with family, friends, neighbors, and Aurora caregivers. The Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Oshkosh gives patients the opportunity to be close to home at a crucial time in their lives. Funds raised through this event will help the Clinic upgrade technology and equipment to continue to provide the best care in the community.
Steve Farwig, foundation development officer, commented, “In 2011, a dedicated group of nearly 250 participants braved a very cool, rainy morning to support the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Oshkosh, raising over $10,000 to help the clinic provide bariatric chairs for the treatment room and expansion of the library with a large supply of educational books to help patients and their families learn to cope with a cancer diagnosis, its treatment and effects.”
The Aurora 5K Walk/Run for Cancer begins and ends on the grounds of Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, 855 N. Westhaven Drive.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners in multiple age categories and the top overall men’s and women’s finishers, along with a traveling trophy to the team displaying the most spirit. The fun continues at the conclusion of the walk/run, with music, food, massages, face painting, caricatures and great raffle prizes, including UW Badger and Timber Rattlers tickets.
