10th Annual Crystal Ball raises funds for Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington and Echo Lake Foods employeesWednesday, February 06, 2013Burlington, WI - Undeterred by snow and sub-zero wind chills, the attendees of the 10th Annual Crystal Ball helped to raise more than $40,000 for Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. The Crystal Ball was held on Saturday, February 2nd at Veteran’s Terrace in Burlington. Proceeds from this event will be directed toward purchasing a state-of-the-art, cardiac network monitoring matrix. This heart monitoring matrix allows for continuous and unobtrusive monitoring of multiple patient heart rates and rhythms, across facilities through a computer network of a shared knowledge, skills and ability. In addition to raising funds for the hospital in Burlington, this year’s Crystal Ball also raised $4,400 for the employees of Echo Lake Foods of Burlington, many of whom are suddenly jobless as a result of last week’s eight-alarm blaze at the facility. With a match from Talmer Bank and Trust and Thrivent Financial, nearly $13,500 was generated for the workers. This money was donated to Love, Inc., which will provide services to Echo Lake Foods employees. Vicki Lewis, president of Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, stated, “We are honored to serve the Burlington community. We are very grateful to the Crystal Ball Committee and to everyone who attended this year’s Crystal Ball for their generosity to both the hospital and the employees of Echo Lakes Food.” This annual event was organized by a community volunteer committee, including, Tilly Burroughs, Carol Chaffee, Terry Fehl, Jodie Feustel, Ania Horner, Pat Impens, Kim Kempken, Vicki Lewis, Deanna O’Connell, Jeanne Otter, Tony Rosso, Kurt Seebacher, Pat Spiegelhoff, Jennifer Stephens and Michelle Weber.
