Nine Aurora Medical Centers Ranked Among Top 100 Hospitals Nationally for Patient Engagement

Ranking measures ability to provide information, tools for patients to engage in their care

Milwaukee – Nine Aurora Health Care Medical Centers are ranked among the top 100 hospitals listed as part of the inaugural Axial Exchange and Becker's Hospital Review "National Patient Engagement Ranking."

The report evaluated 3,077 provider organizations across the country and their patient engagement efforts. Health care providers were evaluated using publicly available information, including patient readmissions, patient satisfaction, and the extent to which an organization helps patients take an informed, active role with decision making in the type of care they receive.

Aurora Health Care Medical Centers ranked in the report include:

  • Aurora Medical Center in Summit (10th)
  • Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County (15th)
  • Aurora Medical Center in Grafton (17th)
  • Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center (18th)
  • Aurora BayCare Medical Center (30th)
  • Aurora Lakeland Medical Center (32nd)
  • Aurora Medical Center in Washington County (33rd)
  • Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh (35th)
  • Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center (91st)

According to a report issued earlier this year by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, people who are actively involved in their health care are the most likely to stay healthy, manage their conditions, and, potentially, have lower health care costs. The report also indicated that patients without the skills and confidence to manage their own health care incur costs of up to 21 percent higher than patients who are highly engaged in their care.
