Charitable care

“When we die, all we have to take with us is what we have given away.”

We recognize that there are limits to how much people can invest in health care. Working together, the people of Aurora are determined not only to provide services of the highest quality, but also to make those services affordable and accessible to every person in every community we serve.

Aurora Health Care provides a growing amount of charity care for people who are uninsured or are otherwise unable to pay for the care they need. In 2004, Aurora provided a total of $69.7 million in charity care.

Government shortfalls in the Medicare, Medicaid, GAMP and other programs for the low income, elderly and disabled, resulted in another $1.5 billion in unreimbursed care by Aurora provided by organizations like these:

  • Aurora Family Service

  • Aurora Clarke Square Family Health Center

  • Madison Street Clinic

  • Mitchell Pointe Family Health Center

  • Parish Nursing

  • Aurora Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin

  • Wisconsin Avenue Family Care Center
