The Aurora Health Foundation raises funds for a number of Aurora facilities in central and northeastern Wisconsin.

Welcome from Aurora Health Foundation leadership

Dear friends,

Aurora Health FoundationAll of our accomplishments in 2007 were the direct result of gratitude — whether expressed by grateful patients, family members, Aurora employees, other foundations, community members, businesses or organizations.

I'm deeply grateful to benefactors like you for your continuing generosity and support. In 2007, your collective gifts exceeded the previous year's giving total by nearly 28 percent. That's remarkable!

Thanks to your increased support, we've improved the health of our communities in new and innovative ways, by:

  • Providing direct patient assistance
  • Financing capital equipment and new technology
  • Making facility renovations
  • Awarding scholarships
  • Funding patient education and caregiver training

Our annual donor report and our Foundation Focus newsletters, both available on this site, have featured heartwarming stories highlighting many initiatives funded through philanthropy in the communities we serve. We hope you've enjoyed reading them.

We have recently presented stories about:

  • Manitowoc bikers who held a charity ride to support pediatrics
  • Friends of a cancer patient who stage an annual “polar plunge” to raise dollars for breast cancer treatment in Winnebago County
  • Hundreds of golfers who come together annually in Manitowoc, Sheboygan and Winnebago County to raise funds for cancer, orthopedics and a patient transportation van
  • An anonymous couple who funded the new CoagClinic in Sheboygan County to support cardiology patients
  • Aurora caregivers who give thousands of dollars each year to enhance health care programs and services in their own geographical area

Did you know that the geographic reach of the Aurora Heath Foundation now covers 14 different counties, about 300 square miles shy of 10,000 square miles? Our service area is slightly larger than the geographic footprint of the State of Vermont!

We'll continue to expand our outreach to the many communities served by Aurora Health Care, working diligently to identify community-specific, health care needs. Going forward, we'll increase our efforts to partner with philanthropic-minded individuals and organizations that can help us address these growing needs.

This past year was a momentous one for the Aurora Health Foundation's board of directors. We embarked upon a year-long process to refocus the “lens” of our activities while continuing to embrace our mission.

We've refined our goals to become more aligned with Aurora Health Care's regional priorities, so you'll be hearing lots more about oncology, Women's Health, cardiology, neurosciences and the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association.

I congratulate and sincerely thank our board members for their commitment of time and energy during this restructuring. The current board is transitioning into a regional leadership network, to include leading community volunteers from key markets to help engage the broader communities served by Aurora. Tapping into the expertise of our board will be crucial to bringing our philanthropic initiatives to fruition.

I'm especially grateful for Wally Waldhart's superb leadership as President of the Foundation, especially during this reorganization. I'm also delighted that Dr. David Smith is chairing our new Aurora Health Foundation board. His leadership, vision and dedication will help guide our future endeavors.

This is truly an exciting time to be affiliated with the Aurora Health Foundation. The opportunities are enormous. With your support, the potential of our impact is immeasurable.

Gratefully,

Jeanne Kobuszewski
Executive Director
Aurora Health Foundation
