A cool breeze blew on Friday evening, July 22nd, and refreshed more than 150 attendees at the island escape-themed Evening in the Garden fundraising event at Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County.
Through the generous contributions of guests and sponsors, nearly $24,000 was raised. An additional match from Vince Lombardi Charitable Funds will increase this number to close to $50,000.
Guests were treated to an amazing array of fantastic food stations created by the medical center’s Food and Nutrition staff, swayed to the cool jazz & rhythms of steel drums provided by Steelin’ Jazz, and placed their bids on many wonderful silent auction items.
Funds raised from the Third Annual Evening in the Garden were designated to Vince Lombardi Charitable Funds for the benefit of the Patient Transportation Fund in Manitowoc County.
The Fund covers a major portion of the expenses for transportation of Aurora patients throughout Manitowoc County for medical appointments and cancer and other treatment services. It is the only transportation option in the county that serves low-income, elderly, and cancer patients – many of whom require wheelchair support.
