Clinical research

Physicians on the leading edge of medical research are eager to affiliate with us

Aurora is a thriving health system for basic and clinical research, with physicians and scientists involved in hundreds of investigations.

Cancer

Whether through clinical trials that test the latest cancer treatments, or its investment in innovative technologies, Aurora is dedicated to providing leading-edge cancer care. Aurora physicians are members of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group and similar organizations, which allows Aurora patients to participate in national treatment studies.

Parkinson's disease

The Regional Parkinson Center at Aurora Sinai Medical Center is one of the largest clinical programs in the U.S. The Center, via the development of a Parkinson Center for Clinical Research, wants to establish a comprehensive database that will facilitate several initiatives: 1) Explore the risk factors for the disease, such as environmental and genetic factors, 2) Publish information about novel drug treatments, and 3) Study the efficacy of herbs, biologic agents, injectibles, magnets, etc. currently being marketed and make this information available to patients and physicians.

Organ transplant

Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center performs more heart transplants annually than any other hospital in the state. As a total and comprehensive organ transplant program, St. Luke's also performs liver, lung, kidney and pancreas transplants, including multiple-organ transplants. St. Luke's is nationally recognized as one of the leading organ transplant programs in the region.

Fertility

Aurora Health Care and BayCare Clinic have developed the state's largest fertility clinic at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. The fertility clinic offers prospective parents who have had difficulty conceiving the opportunity for egg harvesting and implantation.

Alcoholism

Researchers at Aurora Behavioral Health Services and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have united for an extended, federally funded study of treatment for problem drinkers. The study, called Project COMBINE, centers on “talk” therapies and two prescription medications, alone and in combination, to improve recovery rates for alcoholics.
