CMS Hospital Quality Incentive Project
National guidelines recommend certain treatment measures for patients
hospitalized with a heart attack, heart failure, or pneumonia. These measures
are proven to give patients the best possible results. The Wisconsin Hospital
Association’s Checkpoint reports tell how our hospitals compare with others in
the state in carrying out the recommended treatment measures.
Checkpoint Index Report
The numbers below tell what percent of patients hospitalized for heart attack,
heart failure, or pneumonia received all the care they needed based on a
selected group of treatment measures. Data was collected from 1/1/06 through
12/31/06.

CMS Hospital Quality Incentive Project
The CMS project is designed to improve the
quality and efficiency of patient care. More than 250 hospitals from across the
nation are participating in this project. Participating hospitals are measured
for the quality of care they give in treating certain medical conditions. The
“incentive” part of this project is that top performing hospitals are rewarded
with additional Medicare payment.
