Labor, Birth and Beyond

This class prepares parents for the last weeks of pregnancy, labor and delivery. Topics include:

  • Labor and delivery process
  • Your options and choices
  • Controlled breathing and relaxation techniques
  • The support person's role
  • Cesarean birth
  • Unexpected situations
  • Post-partum care

A tour of the Women's Health Services Unit is included. It is recommended that you complete this class three to four weeks before your due date.

Note: Register mother only (partner/support person is included in the registration). Please list the name of your support person, your due date and the name of your physician in the notes section.

We recommend you bring two pillows with you to class to use when practicing breathing and relaxation.

Please Note: These classes are offered as an all day Saturday class (plan on a one-hour lunch break), a two evening session or a three evening session (each class covers the same agenda and objectives - varies per instructor preference).
