Movin' and Groovin' after cancer

This 8 week class is for people of all exercise levels who have received a cancer diagnosis. Following cancer treatment or during treatment, many people suffer from side effects, including decreased endurance and strength. Exercise is very important to overcoming these symptoms, preventing reoccurrence and maximizing your quality of life.

This class includes an educational component prior to exercise. Topics include:

  • Exercise benefits and its effects on fatigue
  • Barriers to exercise and how to overcome them
  • Personal goal setting
  • Stretching, strengthening, postural and exertion guidelines
  • Body mechanics
  • General fitness
  • Demonstration of varied exercises (Pilates, yoga, tai chi, Zumba and NIA)

The exercise portion includes warm-up, low-impact aerobics, strengthening, stretching and cool-down activities.

Fee can be paid directly to the instructor at class.
