Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement: The Feet, designed to provide stability and agility.

Our feet are designed to keep us upright and balanced against gravity. Made up of 26 small, movable bones, our feet support the weight of our entire body. As well as providing stability, the feet are designed for movement. Our feet need to be flexible to adjust to a variety of surfaces and accommodate movement of the entire body. In addition to the joints in our feet, there are over 50 joints above the ankle that contribute to balance. Any imbalance in those joints will lead to compensatory use of the muscles in order to hold up the skeleton, in turn reducing the capacity for movement.

The series consist of Awareness Through Movement lessons which utilize full body movement explorations, directed attention, imagery, and breathing. The movement lessons are designed to:

- develop the many sensors in the feet to enhance balance and activities such as, standing, walking, dancing, running, etc.
- promote awareness of the relationships between the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and back.
- create differentiation between the various parts of the foot, ankle, and toes, leading to full sensory motor capacity of the feet to adapt to differences in terrain and changes in the environment.

Instructor, Eleanor Nowacki, is an Aurora Health Care Physical Therapist and certified Feldenkrais Practitioner. Eleanor has been teaching the Feldenkrais Method since 2000.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Pleae bring a mat and any items you may need to support yourself in a lying position, ie, pillow, towels, etc.

The series is a 2 part series. Fee for Part 1 is $50.00. Fee for Part 2 is $30.00. Attendence of Part 1 is required tor attending Part 2.
