Cardiovascular disease remains America's #1 killer -- every 33 seconds another life is lost to the disease. The professionals of the Milwaukee Heart Institute have dedicated their careers to the fight against heart disease and continue to make significant contributions to the field.

The Milwaukee Heart Institute, located within Aurora Sinai Medical Center, is home to a world-prominent electrophysiology program and one of the nation's top cardiology programs. Cardiac services include:

  • Wellness and prevention
  • Peripheral vascular clinic
  • State-of-the-art cardiac diagnostics
  • Pacemaker clinic
  • Interventional cardiology
  • Cardiac surgery
  • Electrophysiology program

Aurora Sinai specializes in interventional cardiac procedures and has led the way in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease. It is committed to education and research and home to one of two fellowship training programs for physicians in the city.

Aurora Sinai is dedicated to pursuing clinical research that brings new treatment options to patients. A perfect example of this is focal ablation, our evolutionary new procedure that offers a potential cure for atrial fibrillation (a rapid heart beat). Aurora Sinai is one of a limited number of facilities in the country that performs focal ablation.

How do we measure quality?

Premier, Inc., is a national health care alliance whose goal is to improve the quality of patient care. Premier collects data from its 400+ member hospitals (including all Aurora hospitals) on how well they are carrying out specific treatment measures for patients. When it comes to cardiac care, Aurora Sinai is often ranked as a top performer. [ Learn more about health care quality ]

Patient-centered care

The physicians and staff of the Milwaukee Heart Institute focus on the individual needs of every patient within a healing environment. This unique patient-centered approach supports health and healing by providing education, inviting family involvement and encouraging patients to become more actively involved in their own care.

The physicians of the Institute want to beat the statistics by not just fighting heart disease but also preventing it. They place emphasis on health maintenance, disease prevention, early diagnosis and outpatient treatment when possible.
