Aurora Medical Center

Special features

The 4-story hospital represents the next generation of health care. A nurturing and healing place, it offers patient choice and comfort, and enhanced family involvement in a technologically advanced environment with better communication, more access to information and greater efficiency.

All 73 patient rooms are private and spacious with individual showers and warm, home-like furnishings that promote patient rest and healing. Each room measures 15 feet by 16 feet, is decorated with landscape artwork and located within 40 feet of a nursing station. Huge windows give panoramic views of either Lake Michigan or the Woodland Dunes Nature Center.

Timeliness
Advanced radiology technology allows for the digital transmission of x-rays and other images within or outside of the medical center as needed for expert and timely review.

Accessibility
A separate street-level entrance provides convenient access directly into comprehensive Rehabilitation Specialists Services.

Capabilities
Ultra-clean air-flow systems are standard in each operating room to create the surgically-controlled environments required to perform complete knee and hip replacements.

Responsiveness
To facilitate accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment, computerized records allow caregivers immediate access to complete patient medical information at terminals throughout the facility.

Efficiency
Patients can expect greater scheduling flexibility, less waiting, more focused care, and often, shorter recovery times at dedicated outpatient surgery facilities.

Serenity
Many patient rooms offer beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

Close attention
Advanced telemonitoring equipment allows nurses to continuously monitor medical status as patients move throughout the nursing unit.

Privacy
All rooms are private, spacious, equipped with individual showers and warmly furnished to best promote patient rest and healing.

Fast response
Advanced responder systems allow for faster response to patient needs.

Comfort
Several birthing rooms, warmly-furnished for the comfort and care of expectant parents, enhance the birthing experience, from labor and delivery through recovery and postpartum.

Conveniences
Family lounges featuring kitchenettes are available on the 3rd and 4th floors as a convenience for families.

Security
A sophisticated security system enhances the safety of all babies within the facility.

Pet therapy
We have an active pet therapy program. We offer dogs certified through Therapy Dogs International. Dogs and their handlers are volunteers who visit with patients and staff at the hospital. All handlers must go through our volunteer orientation program and both handler and dog records are kept on file with our volunteer coordinator.
