Interpreter and translation services for patients with Limited English Proficiency
(LEP)
The Interpreter and Translation Services will provide interpreter services 24 hours a day at no cost to all patients with Limited
English Proficiency, deaf, deaf/blind or hard of hearing. Children under the age of 18 may not interpret for any family member at any
time. Please ask your nurse if you feel these services may be helpful to you or your family.
Pet visitation
Many people find that having their pet visit them in the hospital can help them feel better. In many cases this can be arranged. If you
would like a visit from your pet, here are some things you need to know. You must be in a private room for your pet to visit. Your pet
must be brought in on a leash or in a cage with a person that will watch over it. Your pet is not allowed in other hospital areas
outside of your room. Please ask your nurse for more information.
Prevent infection - wash your hands
The best way to reduce your risk of infection is by washing your hands. Use a soap and water scrub for 15 seconds, or rub hands with
the alcohol-based hand sanitizer until dry. This will help prevent infection in yourself and also those around you. You should be
cleaning your hands before and after you eat, after you use the restroom, after you sneeze or cough, and any other time your hands get
dirty. Keep yourself healthy - wash your hands!
Smoking
Aurora Lakeland Medical Center has a tobacco-free environment. This means no smoking in or around the buildings. If you have concerns,
please talk with your physician, nurse or respiratory care provider. Your physician can order a Nicotine replacement option for you,
like a patch or gum. Your nurse or respiratory care provider can provide you with a Smoking Cessation Packet.
