Discharge

Your doctor will talk with you about your discharge date. Please plan to leave the hospital by 11 a.m. on the day of discharge. If you have questions about your discharge, please ask your doctor or nurse.

Emergency drills

The hospital conducts many routine safety drills. You may see flashing lights or hear a series of bells or announcements that signal an emergency drill. During these drills, your door may be closed. Please stay in your room unless told otherwise by the nursing staff.

Financial counseling

Financial counselors can help if you have concerns about how you will pay your hospital bill. They will answer questions about your bill and discuss payment options. If you do not have insurance, they will help you find out if you qualify for Medicaid or other assistance programs. If you need help, please call the hospital and ask to speak with a financial counselor.

Flowers/balloons

If flowers arrive for you, we will bring them right to your room. No flowers are allowed in the intensive care units. Flowers and plants received after your discharge will be returned to the florist so they can be sent to your home. Latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital because many people are allergic to latex.

Food service

While in the hospital, your doctor will prescribe a diet for you. If you have special diet restrictions or would like to receive kosher meals, please ask your nurse. At times, your meal may have to be changed, delayed, or canceled due to exams, tests or surgery.

Check with your nurse before eating or drinking any food items brought to you by visitors.

To reduce the spread of germs, please do not visit a patient if you have symptoms of a cold, flu or other illnesses. The patient's bathroom is for the patient's use only. Family and friends should use the public restrooms.

Medical studies have shown that the waterless hand gel is the best method to clean hands. At certain times soap and water can be used. Remind people around you to use the hand gel or soap and water to clean their hands.

Your hospital bill

We will submit your bills to your insurance company. If they do not pay the entire claim, you will be asked to pay the balance in full. Please keep in mind that you will receive separate bills from doctors who treat you while you are in the hospital. In some cases, you may receive bills from doctors who have been asked to review your test results, even though you did not see the doctor in person. Pathologists, radiologists, cardiologists, and other specialists will bill you separately from your hospital bill.

If you have questions about any bill, please call the number printed on your bill.

All payments are due in full by the date printed on your bill. If you need special arrangements, please call 800-958-6202 for help.
