Aurora Wellness Center

Personal training for your personal goals

The Aurora Wellness Center personal training program provides you with a degreed and/or certified Personal Trainer, committed to providing you the best in innovative programming, along with established industry favorites.

Your Personal Trainer will motivate and educate you to achieve optimal results and benefits. After an initial consultation with your trainer regarding your specific fitness goals, a safe and effective program will be designed just for you. From here, your trainer will assist you in choosing the personal training package appropriate for your goals and schedule.

Weight loss - Weight loss is the most common goal of individuals beginning an exercise program. Learn the benefits of weight training, cardiovascular exercise, and diet to successfully reach your fitness goals. Training for weight loss is specifically designed to increase your metabolism, helping you to burn more calories during exercise and at rest.

Post-rehabilitation - Returning from an injury can be a difficult and lengthy process. Your selected trainer will develop a safe exercise program to further develop the strength and flexibility from your completed physical therapy or rehabilitation. Your program will focus on exercises to prevent future injuries through increased body awareness.

Sport specific - Sport specific training will focus on developing the functional strength and skills for your specific sport. Your training sessions will include strength training, plyometrics, and skills training to improve your overall performance.

Strength training - Strength training is perfect for the individual looking to develop muscular strength, muscle mass, or muscle definition. Your trainer will use a variety of exercise techniques and equipment to keep you motivated.

Physical limitations - This style of training is designed for the individual who has difficulties with exercise due to a pre-existing condition such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, or fibromyalgia. Your trainer will develop a program to improve your overall health and daily life.

Fitness assessment

A Fitness assessment is an extremely valuable tool when developing a training regimen. Our goal during this time is to get to know you and your current level of fitness, so that we can make the best recommendations possible for your fitness program.

How to prepare - Please come dressed in comfortable, active clothing with proper footwear. Avoid caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol in the 48-hour period before your consultation, as well as strenuous exercise and a large meal on the day of your appointment. In addition to this, make sure you are sufficiently hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

What to expect - Your assessment will take approximately 60-minutes to complete. You will meet 1-on-1 with a trainer and go through a brief personal health history. This helps us to get to know you better and will alert us to any restrictions and/or concerns you may have. The next step is obtaining your resting heart rate and blood pressure. Other testing includes:

  • girth measurements
  • body composition using skin fold measurements
  • flexibility measurement
  • a graded (progressively challenging) submaximal (85% of your maximum heart rate) bike test
  • a variety of strength testing
  • postural assessment

If you feel uncomfortable with any of these tests or are unable to do what is asked, just let your trainer know. Keep in mind, the more we know, the more we can help.

Your comfort - If you desire a male or female trainer to perform your assessment, please request your preference when scheduling.
