The
Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic was the first to bring medical oncology to
Manitowoc County and the clinic continues to grow and expand with a new
radiation oncology program featuring Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
Unique to Manitowoc County, IMRT focuses radiation on cancerous tumors while
protecting surrounding tissue from damage, allowing the patient to experience
fewer side effects than with other treatments. IMRT is carefully planned by
using 3-D computed tomography (CT) images of the patient in conjunction with
computerized dose calculations to determine the intensity pattern that will best
conform to the cancerous tumor shape.
The
cancer clinic also features ten infusion treatment centers overlooking Lake
Michigan to make the chemotherapy process as comfortable as possible. The
infusion treatment center also benefits those patients receiving care for
rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and Crohn's Disease.
Women's Health Center
The Women's Health Center is a new way of providing health care
for women, offering specialized programs and services for every stage of a
woman's life. In one convenient location, the women of our community have access
to a full-service OB/GYN clinic with open, flexible scheduling, convenient
extended hours, plus on-site ultrasounds, mammograms, massage therapy and bone
densitometry testing.
Women also have access to specialists who focus on reproductive
endrocrinology for diagnosis and treatment of infertility, urogynecology for
bladder and incontinence issues, as well as genetic testing and counseling.
Expectant moms can welcome their new born in deluxe labor and delivery suites
