Ozaukee County is the only county in southeastern Wisconsin still served by only one hospital. The new medical center in
Grafton will provide a new option for high-quality care close to home.
When you need to make health care decisions for yourself or your family, it's a good thing to have a choice. The new hospital
will introduce competition to an area now served by only one provider. The benefits of competition include: better quality, better
service, greater innovation, and lower costs.
Benefits for Grafton

Current care in the county
Physicians from Advanced Healthcare and Aurora Health Care provide care for about 70% of the residents of the Village of
Grafton. In Ozaukee County, about 44,000 residents receive care from Advanced Healthcare or Aurora Health Care physicians.
Many Ozaukee County residents now receive their hospital care outside the county. In 2006, 45.9% of all inpatient and
outpatient hospital cases involving Ozaukee County residents occurred at hospitals outside Ozaukee County.
All of the health care systems in the Milwaukee area are engaged in major hospital construction projects. Columbia St. Mary's
has the most ambitious building program, spending half a billion dollars on construction at its hospital campuses on Milwaukee's
east side and in Mequon.
