The Aurora Medical Center in Summit has been open for only two months and already has its first robotic surgery under its belt. Dr. Aaron
Sulman, a urologist at the Aurora Medical Center in Summit performed the hospital's first robotic surgery using Intuitive's Da Vinci robotic system. The procedure was a radical prostatectomy, or the complete removal of the
prostate gland, and the patient is doing very well after the successful surgery.

The benefits of robotic surgeries are a decrease in blood loss, rapid recovery time and increased precision.
The Aurora Medical Center in Summit will increasingly be utilizing robotic surgery for gynecological procedures such as a hysterectomy), cardiac procedures (bypass, valve replacements) kidney blockage repair (pyeloplasty), and of course, urological procedures, like the aforementioned prostatectomy.
