Dr. Aaron Sulman talks about the medical center's robotic capabilities.
The Aurora Medical Center in Summit has been open for only two months and already has its first robotic surgery under its belt. Dr. Aaron Sulman, a urologist at the Aurora Medical Center in Summit performed the hospital's first robotic surgery using Intuitive's Da Vinci robotic system. The procedure was a radical prostatectomy, or the complete removal of the prostate gland, and the patient is doing very well after the successful surgery.

The benefits of robotic surgeries are a decrease in blood loss, rapid recovery time and increased precision.

The Aurora Medical Center in Summit will increasingly be utilizing robotic surgery for gynecological procedures such as a hysterectomy), cardiac procedures (bypass, valve replacements) kidney blockage repair (pyeloplasty), and of course, urological procedures, like the aforementioned prostatectomy.

Congratulations to Dr. Sulman and his team on a successful surgery and for paving the way at the Aurora Medical Center in Summit for more robotic surgeries in the future.
